It’s been a few months since I’ve last posted on the blog. I’d love to say it’s because I’ve been busy – but that’s not true.
I spent all summer applying for jobs and trying to keep my head up, working really hard not to slip into a downward spiral. It’s been difficult.
I’m still actively applying to jobs and I’m hoping this season I’ll be successful.
But that’s not why I’m writing today.

April is over. I can hardly believe it. It was my first full month back in Phoenix and wow has it been a warm one. It’ll just keep getting warmer. Some days I love it, while others I ask myself why I put up with it. Because dang, it’s hot.
It’s been a good month of lots of writing and reading.

I decided to lower my Camp NaNo goal because I don’t think my story was going to reach my initial goal of 120 pages. I’m glad I did because a few days after I changed it I finished my first draft at 110 pages.

Camp NaNo is going pretty well! I’ve been able to write every day so far. My current goal is to write at least 120 pages. I’ve written 44 pages so far.
When I first started working on this project I kept thinking I was wasting my time. The story is odd, the situations probably don’t make sense. But, the more I wrote, I found myself becoming more comfortable with this weird story. I can see myself finishing this first draft and I actually think I want to work past a first draft.
I’m home! I spent the last three months in San Diego helping my sister prep for a big move, but I’m now back in Phoenix. It’s so good to be home.
